On holiday on Sifnos
The medical centre, is shown below, on Sifnos which we went to yesterday for a scheduled dressing change. It has a very narrow access road which dropped me off at the front door. I hobbled in. I was immediately seen by two members of staff, I saw one of the ambulance drivers who rescued me, and I think the radiographer. As there is no room to turn around, my Sifnos friend had to reverse their car down the access narrow road. He did very well. We then drove to Apollonia car park, my friend got out, picked up the remains of my prescriptions, and two chicken pies from the place that myself and Ronnie used a couple of times, and bought that very pie! It does feel like I am on holiday here!
I did not do well with yesterdays Wordle, my Sifnos friend did succeed in getting the right answer in the prescribed number of goes. I did look at a Greek wordle on the internet, but on reflection, I don’t think I can be successful! I have been doing my other puzzles, Codeword, Duolingo and others. On weekdays about four in the afternoon my time, the next London Standard appears on the internet and I have another Codeword and Cryptic crossword that I look at. It’s interesting going back to my leg, in that each member of staff wraps the leg up in its bandage in a slightly different way. It does not hurt to have the bandage swapped, underneath are a loads of swabs, soaked in iodine, that are removed one by one. This tickles me a bit. My hairy leg, which was shaved before the operation, the hairs are now regrowing.
A few hundred feet below me is Kamares beach and I can hear and see families playing on the beach and in the sea. It’s also strange seeing people get up and walk without the aids that I need. I know this will pass, it’s only temporary, but I am looking through a different prism to most people, if I want an ice cream, as I do right now, it would be a very interesting journey and my friends here would be shocked that I made it! The good news for the friend on their own at the moment is that later today their partner will be here too and they can share the load. Unless you take a really early flight, say from the UK and are lucky, it’s a two day journey back here and to these islands that don’t have an airport. In the winter, you have to be super lucky, as the ferries are not so often, and one windy day, will have you in Piraeus twiddling your thumbs for a few more. That would be the time to go to the Acropolis and its nearby museum.
