Monday at the hospital

Before I left for Syros I took a photo of the progress of the jigsaw. The big bird is done, it’s now just the detail around the animals and birds that needs doing. It’s a very nice puzzle.

The two churches continues with Agios Vasilios. The first is by the beach Avessalos which can now be reached by a track, which I found was refurbished recently. There is a lot of sage growing nearby which people collect for tea in the winter. The second church unfortunately is in need of repair which is possibly needed because of a bad damp problem in the area. The water that comes from the nearby spring is said to be the best on the island.

The hospital had a couple of other inbound patients so I had to wait until I could be processed and taken to the ward. Before then I was x rayed, so I  the images were reading for the doctors round in the morning. I think I got to the ward about one am. It’s cooler which is good, but there was lots of things going on with the patient next to  me, and one of the other guys was singing and sort of shouting in his sleep! Meanwhile by the window is a very handy place to stash my crutches.

The doctor came round with his troop and they took the bandage off and had a look. Some of some very small wires have been removed. It was then bandaged up. I then asked the consultant some questions and got some answers. The good news is the leg is healing. The bad news is the cage now has to stay on two more months. I also have to come back to Syros every two weeks for one of these checkups. It was made clear, these can’t be done on Sifnos, which would be very handy!
