First leg, Second leg, Last leg

To start with, here is a photo of Sifnos port, while we waited for the ferry.

On the evening before our first leg travel day on the Friday,  one of my Sifnos friends drove us all down to our favourite restaurant in Kamares, that is Cameron. After we had settled down, one of the owners came out from the kitchen to say hello and to wish me well. We had a lovely meal, I enjoyed the rice with chicken, nearly ordered correctly in Greek ( having used the Greek word  and instead of with) and then  had an ice cream, I was driven back to the house, where I went to bed. Here is Ronnie doing one of his sideways looks, trying to pretend he is not begging!

In the morning, I had a lazy start and  had my breakfast and finished my packing. My friends came and then closed up the house, and we drove to the port, to await the ferry. While we waited, a car came up beside us, with another person with crutches. She had fallen off a motorbike, and broke several toes in her foot. She was bandaged up and had elected to travel back to Switzerland to be treated, as she was heading home anyway. The ferry arrived and two wheelchairs took us convoy style through the ferry, up the car decks to the passenger area. Both SeaJets wheelchair pushers, did an excellent job of navigating us through the sea of cars and into an area by the disabled toilet. Here is a photo when we stopped at Serifos.

We bought some drinks and sandwiches, and did the cryptic crossword which my friend who is travelling with me excelled at. When we got to Piraeus we were taken by wheelchair out of the ferry and into the mayhem like Piccadilly Circus, with cars, taxis and people. We had a taxi ordered and I rang him, and passed the phone to the guy who pushed me off the ferry, so he could work out where our taxi was. It took a long time to get out of the port, and our taxi driver crossed his chest with the sign of the cross when we finally left the port area. We were soon in our hotel and we got our our lovely welcome. In the evening we had a meal outside, chatting to the staff, who know us so well.

In the morning a friend picked us up and whisked us to the airport, a bit early, but we wanted to make sure we left enough time to get through the airport. We were going Business class, so I had enough room for my leg. We had also ordered wheelchair access from the airport entrance to the inside of the aircraft. The airport staff were brilliant and wheeled us through to then wait for our plane. It all worked beautifully

At the other end, we were greeted by rain as we landed. Again the staff were amazing, as I was wheeled off, I asked if the air crew were going back to Athens, they were, they had the next day off, it was the last day of a five day run. They must have been exhausted. The guy who wheeled me through the airport was fantastic. Our neighbour picked us up in his car and drove us home. After he parked on our drive, I got out and another neighbour popped out with an umbrella. We had beans on toast for dinner and I went to bed.

This morning, we both got up, I got the pay as you go internet working and the new doorbell. There are a few deliveries today. The house in the UK is better in some ways, there are going to be a few challenges, but we will get them sorted. Thanks to everyone who made this journey possible, without them I could not undertaken it. Thursday is when I go to the local fracture clinic to see what they think and then we can plan the future of my time here.
