Every Boy Scout
Maybe this daily blog thing might work out, it might have some mileage in it. But please do not see a lack of a post as bad thing! Last night we had a lovely take out from Cameron, and Ronnie joined in. It’s wasn’t long before it was time for my friends to leave me, and for me to go to bed. I did not sleep badly, but I woke in the morning, quite early and my ankle was in pain, a bit stiff. But I managed to drop off and woke about seven.
I then got up and decided to have a shower. I sat in the shower, bad leg sticking out and covered the shower area with the curtain as best as I could. I washed my hair first, then my body and then dried myself off. The main thing was to avoid slipping on any water, but there wasn’t much. I had decided to use one of the Tote bags to carry things between the rooms. It goes over my neck. I think I shall have my Boy Scout Time and Motion badge at the end of this. The house is good, being on one floor but it’s a long way to the balcony from the bedroom at the back. Thinking about my efforts to live in the UK, our house is on two floors, and the shower is over the bath, that would be difficult for me. Back here the kitchen has a serving hatch between it and the living room, and the living room window is good for passing things to the balcony which is shaded and cool during them day, with often a breeze. Carrying hot drinks is a bind, but I have an idea about that too.
My friends arrived armed with Bugatza and we had these with coffee and a chat. The ambulance then arrived and whisked me off to the Medical Centre. I met the Doctor and one of the nurses, she was to replace my bandage for four weeks, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I also have to go to Syros on the weekend of the 17th for a checkup. I had a nice chat with the nurse, she thought I was doing ok with my Greek and if I use it more, she will help me with it. From now on I have to find my way to the Medical Centre for these visits, but I should get the ambulance for the Syros journey.
So bit by bit, it’s coming together, in time I hope to get a bit more confident with the crutches, again I am mindful this is a temporary disabled moment in my life, I do I know a guy who doesn’t have the same injuries, but his life was affected by a medical incident and he faces daily challenges that will remain in his daily routine until he leaves this world.
