Last day in Milos

  Friday night and Saturday

So last night after having dinner, I decided to go into the port to try and get some sunset photos. Trouble is the sun was setting behind the mountains, not on the seas horizon. So I decided to have a drive around the island. I ended up in new territory, and  in a very small village by the sea called  Firopotamus. It was a delightful place. It had a colourful church, some houses and a ruin right by the sea.

As I wandered around I could hear people laughing, I looked down, there was some kind of gathering and I heard them all say “cheese” and they were taking a selfie of themselves. By the church as I clambering to take a photo of the ruin, there was a young couple sitting, looking out to the sea. It was all very lovely. As I wandered around, I thought about a cruise ship which had been in the port of Milos for a couple of days and was steaming off when I was in the port tonight. I am not a cruise ship fan, not my ideal holiday, I would rather have been with that family group sharing that occasion, than on that boat.

So this morning, I woke up early, as usual, but this time poked my phone outside the opened window and took this shot. If only I did it a bit earlier!

So after reading a Milos tourism booklet, I decided to give Klima a go. It’s near the North of the island, in fact the ancient theatre that  I went to earlier  is nearby, and  has some steps up to it. But to get to Klima, I had to go on yet another one of those narrow roads. How awful it must be in the summer, with many more hire cars on the around. There really aren’t the passing places you get in the UK and often there are high walls either side of the road. I missed a turn, which meant having to do a switchback in a village, watched by several people in a taverna. But I finally made it. It’s a lovely place, very small, and very pretty.

On the beach there was a Renault Clio, he was stuck in the sand and he was being dug out. I think if I lived there I would park in the car park. There was a concrete pier and while on it, and I got chatting to two Americans who were staying in Plaka and were enjoying themselves. They were getting married in Greece in a few days, both their mothers were coming over for the occasion.

In this picture the different coloured doors and windows are clearer to see. This is done so that when they bring their fishing boat in, they can get it to the right house easily. The boat lives downstairs.

I then decided to visit another fishing village nearby with similar traits. After having a look, I did something I don’t often do, and that is just enjoy the view. I think I managed an hour. While I was doing this, one of the SuperJets that brought me here passed by.

.

So I then drove back to my room, after filling the car up with petrol and decided to have a quiet afternoon. I might listen to my Greek Audiobook. I won’t be posting anything tomorrow as I won’t be doing much all day. I fancy I will look up Tripadvisor on where the best place to go to tonight is!
