Back on Sifnos
Tuesday night - Wednesday
So my last night on Serifos. After dropping the car off, I decided to give the Italian taverna a visit in the town. I had a really nice meal and had a wander about afterwards, before returning to the Captains bar for a farewell drink.
Every time I have been to the bar, there has been different people serving. But this time the owner was there. The waitress who was serving with him, might have been his girlfriend, a very attractive blonde lady. I had quite a chat with him, yes he closed the bar in the winter, but there were other places open. He liked living in Livadi, unlike the car hire guy, who liked the peace and quiet. After a while he went into the bar, he put some headphones on, he was doing his DJ thing. It was all 1980’s stuff, but he did not introduce the music, he was a silent DJ. I managed to order my next drink, with my shaky Greek, I got a smile from his waitress, she understood!
The following day, slightly jaded, I packed up and said goodbye to the lady owner of my apartment and Mike the dog. As I walked to the ferry, I saw the manager of the Captain’s bar, chatting to one of his friends, we exchanged a morning greeting. Seconds later the car hire guy went past me on his scooter, he said hello, did I want a lift to the port? I joked and said I was ok, not sure how happy I would have been on a scooter holding my suitcase! At the ferry terminal, I had a chat with two Birmingham ladies who were going to Sifnos, they had had an unexpected night in Serifos, as they were a bit slow when there ferry stopped at Sifnos yesterday and did not manage to get off in time! But they enjoyed themselves on the island and were looking forward to getting to Sifnos and are staying in Kamares. They may well be on my ferry Saturday. As we left Serifos there were some clouds on the island.
At Sifnos Hazel, Mike and Ronnie me at the port, I got a lovely welcome. We walked to my hotel, which is very nice. It is getting busy here, but not overly so yet. We had a coffee and I went shopping. I went into the supermarket which has moved and now has a butchers in it as well, I am sure the lady owner knows me now! I went into the bakers and got a spanakopita from Marie who certainly does! I had some work to do on the TRHA web page, after which I walked to Hazel and Mike’s house for dinner. Ronnie enjoyed his piece of spanakopita I saved for him as I usually do. Kim came around and we had dinner outside.
Footnote. Thursday I woke to very strong winds and the temperature will not be as hot as yesterday. I might walk to Apollonia with Ronnie.
