So more photos

So more photos, less words today. The second village that we went to was called  Lagada. Quant houses, little churches and tavernas to tempt you for a coffee. Mike managed to get a photo of the inside of a church despite it being locked up. The cooking pots were huge, heavens knows what got cooked in them.

Very often when we had a meal we would have a liqor afterwards, given free of charge. I think a lot of them were based on raki, infused with the taverna’s own mixture of herbs or spices ( I might be wrong here). What I was really impressed with, is how my friends have really made themselves so much part of their island. Not just learning Greek, but becoming integral to it,  so that they are not seeing as incomers, but as Sifnonians in their own right. What this means is the Greeks, who I think are generous people ( Greeks bearing   gifts) give my friends discounts at restaurants and the carpenters who worked so hard to refurbish their tiny house, would give them eggs and other produce from their farm. There are problems with any place you decide to live in, but surely this place has a smaller negativity list than most places I have known. ( but recycling is on the list …)
