So like last time…
So like last time I went on vacation, I am posting my holiday diary after I get back. Note each post might cover a day, half a day or more than one day.
So after the last lorry finally boards onto our ferry, a huge plume of dirty black smoke pours out of the ship’s funnels and we inch away from the pier. This is the slow ferry to Sifnos, we have six hours sailing ahead of us. Like the first time I came here, I flew to Athens, then took a taxi to a hotel, in the port Piraeus, bedded down for the night and got the ferry the following day. I had a few hours before my ferry left in the afternoon and I bought myself a nice pair of evening shoes in a real, old fashioned shop nearby. They cost me about seventeen Euros, they were made it Italy. These will add to my stock of clothes and other items that I am building up on the island. I had a wander around the port and found a pretty small church by the port itself.
The ferry carries on into the night, the sea is calm thank goodness. I have a whole bunch of downloads from BBC sounds to listen to including the Aberfan disaster story. We finally landed on Sifnos, it’s very late but there is just time to have a couple of glasses of wine before bed at Cameron , it’s the last restaurant open in Kamares and it closes tonight! More tomorrow!
