So another post

So another post on my Greek holiday. Although the posts will be in chronological order, I will split things up, eg, when we went to two places on one day.

So before setting out, how about the breakfast I was treated to in my hotel! In fact there was much more available, I did not want a calorie overload. On the left hand side of the tray is chick pea soup, a delicacy served on Sundays, it was very tasty. Another thing often eaten for breakfast is Spanakopita which is a cheese and spinach pie, my dog friend over on Sifnos loves this, when I had one, I would often give him a piece if he was with me. ( or wrap a bit in a serviette)

I was surprised by the amount of greenery on the island, given how hot it got this summer, but some trees were scorched. According to my friends, in the spring there are lots of wild flowers and herbs, I hope to see and smell them next year.

Our first trip was out in their car, an old VW Golf, which they use to travel around the island. The roads are very good, but there are tracks where an off road vehicle would be needed. So we visited Artemonas, a lovely place where you can wander around and look at the lovely whitewashed buildings. The island has many remains of windmills used years ago, they have a modern one, used to generate some of the islands electricity.
