So after our journey

So after our journey on the SeaJet, we landed at the port of Katapola on Amorgos. It’s a very pretty town, where we were to stay on the island. We hired a little car to visit other parts of the island. The town has a pretty horseshoe beach and harbour that makes a pretty walk. The island seems a bit more rocky and barren than Sifnos, but still pretty. Most of the buildings like Sifnos are white and low rise, with contrasting red, blue or green windows and doors.

Our first village we went to was called Aegiali, and like Sifnos towns and villages there are loads of little churches peppered around it. There were loads of little roads to wander along and views to look out on. I think years ago more farming was done on Sifnos with the signs of terracing on the mountains. On Amorgos the mountains were bare, I don’t think you could grow things on them there.

When we went to Greece years ago, the Greek wine seemed mainly the stuff called Retsina. Nowadays that seems a distant memory, the red they sell is really good and I don’t think it’s because you are drinking up the sun at the same time! The beer was always good and still is. But it’s not cheap, as I seem to remember it was.

Time for the photos.
