Monday, it’s a windy day..
It’s still a windy day with light cloud, today we are off to our friend from the UK who is cooking us a full breakfast. It will be interesting to see what’s on our plates, the Greeks don’t really do sausages like we do, I don’t expect to find black pudding!
As usual I feed the cats in the morning, scattering food near my door. There seem to be two dominant residents, another comes to take a look, I scatter a bit of food for him away from the pile for the other two. We had a great breakfast at Kim’s, the sausages he gave us were very good, they tend to taste a bit like frankfurters. He has a few stray cats he feeds, one a lovely tabby, called Fly, because it used to catch flies when he first met Kim. Ronnie food tested the sausages too. Afterwards it was on the beach to stock up Mike’s log supply with the trimmings off the trees, which have been pruned, nothing like that goes to waste here. After a quick coffee back at the apartment, I head off to the beach to do a litter pick on the beach. I meet one of our new year Eve hosts during this and end up removing a lot of rubbish. A lot of bottle tops, string from fishing boats and a mixture of other items. It’s all in a community rubbish dump area now. I feed the remaining town duck, hopefully he will get a new mate in the new year. During the litter lick I spot a clutch of what looks like duck eggs, abandoned now. Afterwards I have a cold drink in the only cafe open, and Hazel, Mike and Ronnie stop by and join me before we go our separate ways, before joining them for dinner. Tomorrow I start my tour of the island on my own in the hire car… in todays photos I include an island map for reference.
